Designing for Madrid’s iconic skyline presented a unique challenge: creating an energy-efficient environment capable of supporting the building’s diverse functions. With tailored HVAC solutions, Daikin played a key role in helping the project achieve LEED certification, combining performance, sustainability, and comfort at every level. The challenge Caleido is a complex in Madrid’s financial district. The tower itself is home to IE, a prestigious educational institution serving over 5,000 students. Rising more than 180 meters, Caleido presented a major challenge: creating a comfortable and energy-efficient environment that adapts seamlessly to its diverse uses. Adding to the complexity, the project was pursuing LEED certification, which required meeting a stringent set of sustainability and efficiency criteria throughout the building. The solution Daikin delivered a fully customized HVAC solution, centered around advanced VZ water-cooled units with Variable Frequency Drive (VFD). At the heart of the system is an exceptionally reliable single-screw compressor, whose unique performance characteristics, combined with Daikin’s Inverter technology and extensive expertise, ensure outstanding energy efficiency, durability, and overall reliability. To meet the project’s comfort and sustainability goals, Daikin also supplied Professional AHUs.. Ths unit range features a factory-fitted electrical control panel with Direct Digital Control (DDC), integrated temperature, humidity, and CO₂ sensors, and intelligent management of mixing dampers, heat recovery wheels, water valves, filter pressure switches, fan motors, and inverters. The control system is capable of managing chilled water coils, hot water coils, and DX cooling or heating coils supporting up to four circuits per DX coil. This combination of advanced hardware and intelligent controls provides precise climate management, energy efficiency, and comfort tailored to the complex’s diverse needs.
