A refrigeration plant’s global warming effect is the combination of the possible refrigerant losses (Direct warming impact) and the CO2 emissions caused by electricity production (Indirect warming impact). Country per country situation is different, however on average in Europe CO2 release at energy production is quite high (average 0.45kg/kwh of Electrical Energy)! Due to this, there is a significant greenhouse effect over the lifetime of the refrigeration plant and efficiency is thus one of the crucial focus points in reducing TEWI!
